Bring your own snacks and drinks (and some to share with your fellow members) to liven the mood! \nDate: Saturday\, December 2nd 2023Time: 1pm – 5pm PSTLocation: Chapman Leonard\, 12950 Raymer Street\, North Hollywood\, CA 91605 \nSOC Hosts: Peter Rosenfeld\, SOC & Brad Rea \nDolly Grip Brad Rea and operator Peter Rosenfeld have been working together for over 15 years.  What they have forged during that time is a very close working relationship where the two collaborate closely on how to best execute shots efficiently and safely. \nThis panel discussion will focus on the process of how an experienced Dolly Grip and Operator work together. The intent is to show the close and complex relationship between the two trades and how to maximize opportunities on set to make great shots. It’s a lesson in teamwork and co-operation\, with discussion and clips being screened. Topics to be presented: \n\nHow the DG and Op figure out the best approach to complex shots.\nWe will screen a few shots and discuss how the decision was made to choose the platform and how the shot was accomplished.\nSetting up the dolly for an operator vs setting it up for a remote head.\nWhen to go remote and when not to.\nIn moments of unpredictable action\, how the dolly grip can help “find” shots.\nHow to safely photograph stunts and shots involving gunfire or explosions and what role does the DG play in these situations.\nBig dolly or small dolly?  How to choose..\nThe comm system.  How to best to make use of it.\nThe best use of mounting a monitor on the dolly.  When to use it and when to ignore it.\nChoosing the right tool / camera platform.  Why this is critical.\nTelescoping cranes vs fixed cranes vs jib arms\n\n1:00 – 3:00pm will be a presentation from hosts Peter Rosenfeld\, SOC and Brad Rea.
