We want to celebrate the life of Past President and Founding SOC Member, Bob Marta, SOC. We thank him for his contributions to the production community and his dedication to the Society. Our best wishes go out to his friends and family.

Robert D. Marta, of Bozeman, Montana, passed away on Thursday, April 13 at his home after years of health issues. Bob Marta was born October 5, 1943 in Pasadena, Ca, Son of Jack & Grace Marta. He was a 1966 Graduate from Montana State University (Beta Rho Chapter of Sigma Chi fraternity).

Bob worked many years in the Motion Picture industry as a Camera Operator and was a Founding member and the first President of the Society of Operating Cameramen (now Society of Camera Operators).  During his tenure at the S.O.C., Bob helped countless children through the establishment of our charity at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Vision Center.

Upon retirement Bob returned to Bozeman, serving as a proud member of the Masonic Bozeman Lodge #18 and the Bagdad Shrine. He was honored to have helped thousands of children through the Spokane Shriners Children’s Hospital. Bob is survived by his two daughters Michelle Marta and Amanda McComb, son in law John and their three children.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 3, 2017 at 2:00
